  1. SLORDAX: The Unknown Enemy

  5. Legends tell of a race of superbeings who once tried to conquer the galaxy.
  6. Their cruelty was untold, and there was great suffering.  They were called
  7. the Slordax, and laid waste to galaxy upon galaxy.  The war lasted for a
  8. century.
  9.  
  10. In the end, the Slordax were repelled.  Now there is a stirring in the
  11. Slordian system, a system dead for over seven hundred years.  Are the
  12. Slordax returning?  The I.D.A. wants to know.
  13.  
  14. Charged with the task of keeping galactic peace, the Intergalactic Defense
  15. Alliance has decided on a first strike--take them out before they grow too
  16. strong to defeat.  You have been given the fastest, deadliest ship in the
  17. galaxy, a RedDog Adaptive Strike Ship.  Given an elaborate artificial
  18. intelligence, it can use just about anything you fly near as an energy
  19. source or weapon.  On the instant of imminent explosion, the ship will
  20. transport the pilot to a backup ship.  There are a limited number of ships,
  21. and in the words of the director of the I.D.A., "You lose these ships and
  22. we're taking it out of your [CENSORED]."

  25. THE PLAN OF ATTACK
  26.  
  27. Phase One
  28.  
  29. Fly in through the asteroid belt to avoid detection from Slordia.  It will
  30. be very dangerous, and watch out for automatic defense systems.
  31.  
  32. Phase Two
  33.  
  34. Pierce the defense screens and skim the planet's surface to avoid further
  35. detection.  Their defenses will be alerted, so be careful.  You must find
  36. the entrance to the old Fleet construction tunnels.
  37.  
  38. Phase Three
  39.  
  40. Fly through the fleet tunnels, avoiding the automatic defense systems,
  41. patrol drones, energy fields, and giant machinery.  Find your way to the
  42. realm of the Slordax--a sort of hazy bubble in the time-space continuum.

  44. Phase Four
  45.  
  46. Fly though the realm of the Slordax, whatever is there, and find out if the
  47. titanic Slordian Master has returned.
  48.  
  49. Phase Five
  50.  
  51. Make your way home through dangerous interdimensional warps to recieve your
  52. commendation.

  54. Some aliens will release power up capsules as they die:

  65. CONTROLS

  67. You may use the joystick, keyboard, or mouse.

  77. Pressing F1 brings up the Help screen.

  79. Pressing F2 will let you enter the control panel.  Here you may change the
  80. controls and turn sound on or off.

  82. Pressing F3 will allow to you restart the game.

  86. ESC (or F10) will quit Slordax.
